Jessica created the only end to end culture design
solutions firm in existence.
How did you get started?
I was working in consulting as a systems design specialist, restructuring large organizations.
What worked and what didn’t work became obvious. And people-
centered solutions were needed.
Being an avid techy I understood the concept of user experience (UX), and figured let's apply it to real life.
I think every experience should be optimized. Be it
employment, home, health, everything.
What has been the most challenging moment in your career?
There was a period of time I let bigger egos take credit for my work. Learning to stand up for myself and my work, as a woman and a millennial, has been really challenging.
What was the most braggable moment?
Bringing a company from under 10% engagement to over 97% in three months was pretty incredible. I usually work with large organizations where the change is slow. But with a small one, you can really scale up employmentUX quick.
What would you say is your biggest weakness?
I really wish I didn’t use alcohol to relax after a long day. I’m looking for alternative solutions to that. Currently drinking bone broth at night, while dreaming about tequila.
And your greatest strength?
My brain just never stops.
What was the greatest lesson you’ve learned from a mistake?
Assuming people know anything. Never ever assume.
What do you love most about what you do?
I don’t separate work and the rest of life, I’m always going on all fronts: health, work, everything. I could never imagine having that separation that people with an office job have. I’m so grateful I can do what I love from anywhere.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Build your personal brand.
How do you define happiness?
When life is just flowing and you’re not thinking about the clock.
What book are you currently reading?
Hit Refresh by Satya Nadella
What’s a personal habit that you believe contributes to your success?
GRIT! You’re going to fail. Learn not only to accept it, but don’t even think about it. Just keep moving.
Have you done any collaboration?
Everything I do in my work and life is extremely collaborative. It’s such an advantageous way to work. One person I would like to collaborate with and haven’t yet is Verne Harnish. I was recently at an event with him and he stood out as someone with a perspective I’d like to learn from.
